5680 US Route 4, Bridgewater Corners Vermont, 05035 · 802.672.1779
Located at the intersection of Routes 4 and 100A, a mile beyond the Plymouth/Bridgewater town line, the original general store was built on the site in the mid-1840s. The first Bridgewater post office was located in the store from the 1860s until 1941. Although burglars burned the store to the ground in 1889, it was rebuilt on the original foundation and reopened in 1890. It has served the community ever since as a local gathering place.
Plymouth residents, the Olsen family purchased the store in 2009 with a vision of completely restoring it to reflect a simpler time. Today, guests can secure hunting and fishing licenses, report game, and purchase gasoline, groceries, deli meats, and sandwiches. If you are not in a rush, enjoy their comfortable Adirondack chairs out front, have a cold drink, and make new friends! You can also check their community Bulletin Board for information on local activities and events, and pick up some extra cash from their ATM machine.
